About me
I'm Nadia, and I collect little stories.
I was born in Singapore and returned here after university abroad with more books than furniture and a habit of talking to shopkeepers that my mother finds either charming or excessive, depending on the day. I live in a flat off Haig Road, in that overlap of Katong and Joo Chiat where Peranakan tiles still surprise you on a corner you thought you knew.
StoryBoost began as voice memos on my phone — fragments on the bus home, notes whispered into the microphone while waiting for teh tarik. A friend said the stories deserved more room than a locked phone album, so I built this site. No editorial team, no content strategy, no brand partnerships. Just me and the tales I pick up along the way.
What draws me in: character, specificity, the moment someone reveals a tiny piece of their history without meaning to. The tailor who remembers your mother's hemline. The market auntie who warns you about the stall that looks busy but restocks yesterday's greens. I write warmly and anonymously because these aren't my stories to claim — I'm the listener who happened to be there.
My neighbourhood is Katong and Joo Chiat: shophouse lanes, old signs, new cafés in old bones, the sea not far when the wind is right. I take the bus, buy kopi and teh, walk the same routes until they give up a new detail.
A note on what this is: StoryBoost is my personal notebook online. What you read here comes from my own walks, conversations and recollections — they're stories, not facts, and they're never meant as medical, legal, financial or professional guidance. I write anonymously about neighbours and strangers to protect their privacy; if something reads wrong, please tell me and I'll put it right.
